Rationale
My first lesson took place in the woodshop class of Mr. David Weber at Rocky Mountain High School. This lesson focused on connecting my studio practice of working with subject matter based in the historical context of WWII with the craft and design principles being taught in the class. Because of the nature of the content and it’s relation to WWII some of the conversations that were had were rather heavy in nature and navigated some of the more difficult topics of WWII. I believe that having a well-crafted lesson plan that allowed for student engagement and involvement lead to a very successful navigation of these difficult topics, ultimately creating a welcoming and respectful environment.
