Standard 1:
Demonstrates mastery of and pedagogical expertise in content 

Rationale 

'​The artifacts I have chosen to illustrate my master of Standard 1 are my Lesson 2 Plan and my Instructional Strategy. These two assignments clearly serve to illustrate my proficiency as an art teacher in my ability to know and manipulate the content in order to meet the needs of my student’s and the respective learning targets. My Lesson 2 Plan shows my ability to step outside of my precise area of expertise and teach in a digital arts classroom. As an art educator my primary area of expertise is in sculpture, however this lesson plan clearly serves to illustrate my ability to step outside of that realm and deliver effective content in a different context. My instructional strategy comes from the text book Making Thinking Visible and shows my ability to use different learning strategies to connect content with activities that improve student's abilities to think and express themselves.
